Doctor + Speaker + Leadership Coach
“Because to have a BREAKTHROUGH in your organization, you must first have a breakthrough within YOURSELF“
- Dr. Buzanowska
Belonging is the foundation of organizational engagement.
I have recently published an article in Management in Healthcare on "Understanding and resolving conflict to create cultures of well-being in diverse teams".
In the article I talk about the necessity of proactively addressing conflict within your team, because: if you don't - it will erode your team, but if you do it well - it will strengthen your team. Conflict WILL happen openly or secretly, and if it is not resolved, it will accumulate and accrue 'interest' on unresolved conflict.
Leaders are perplexed about the silent quitting because they don't think that leading includes connecting with their teams and resolving hidden conflict.
What does it have to do with ‘belonging’? In short - everything. Belonging is what makes us feel safe and without that, an internal state of fear gets activated. Our perception of belonging is tested through conflict resolution. Most people will avoid conflict, not to risk being rejected, but when conflict becomes unavoidable, the way it is handled will send a message to everyone about their status of belonging and acceptance in the organization.
